Aloha,
Our student program has changed to AFP. This program gives our student skydivers a more structured learning program through the A license. Getting the student skydiver to the A license has been demonstrated to keep students in the sport. Student jumps are also videoed by the instructor for use as an aid to progression. A video of each jump is available for the student to view prior to each jump, as a visual learning aid, which allows the student to see what is expected from them.

The AFP program also teaches a different aircraft exit to introduce the student to some modern skydiving disciplines such as sit and free flying. To safely facilitate this change, new student containers and 2 new student systems have arrived for use by the student. The new gear looks good, which makes the student program look good.

Other student program changes include the option to pay as you go. While the option to pay for the entire course remains, now students may purchase small groups of jumps at a discount of pay jump by jump. Also in April we will begin the A license in a week program, beginning at 6:30am gives the student and instructors more low wind speed time to work in the student jumps.

Jon Stewart and Brendan McHugh have both rejoined the staff. Brendan has been away for some 10 years, most recently jumping in Colorado. While Jon was not gone for nearly as long, he is an excellent instructor, a favorite of tandem customers and we welcome both back to Skydive Hawaii. TK Hinshaw is now managing Pofolk Aviation and Hale O’lele Corp; companies which supply aircraft and rental equipment to skydivers.

The Army due to liability concerns nixed the night jumps planned for February 13th. A complaint on equal access has been put in to the FAA. While this may take some time to sort out, we are confident that both Dillingham and Hana Airports will be made available to this legitimate aviation use at public facilities.

Clint Clawson and Joey Jones are expected at the end of February for Party in Paradise 2009. The 2008 Party was enjoyed by all those attending, so we look forward to sharing the skies and our aloha with this year’s group of part participants.

SkydiveHawaii.com is now functional. Soon we will be using this site as the main reservation and web based information site for Skydive Hawaii. The site will also provide a manifesting tool when used with software from Real Dropzone. Sign up now to log in and be ready for our new manifesting system.
