The Temporary Flight Restrictions issued for this month's APEC prohibit skydiving on Oahu on November 12th and 13th. Our operations will be closed on both days for all skydiving. Island Skydiving LLC has made arrangements to use the Port Allen Airport on Kauai for both the 12th and 13th. Join them on Kauai for top down view of Kauai.
Hawaii Polo has completed another season. Mahalo to all the participants in the half time shows. The crowd really appreciates the effort and energy we added to their Mokuleia experience every Sunday. The Whitlock Cup was fun, sorry that we lost Tommy Sammis for the season in Round 1 for distance.
The AAD program for sport jumpers has been a big success. Nearly two dozen units have been installed in sport jump equipment on the island. While Skydive Hawaii has recommended automatic openers for years and they are required on all our tandem and student equipment, we respect the right of the sport jumper to determine what equipment to jump. Adding the new AADs will make the skies safer over Dillingham Airfield.
Mahalos to Shaun Dunn, USPA S&TA, and Eric Welton for tackling the tall ironwood trees East of our Landing Zone. These trees created dangerous wind turbulence on our East wind days. The Landing Zone usuable area dramatically increased when these obsticles were removed. We hope that the State can find the opportunity after APEC to lower the tree height along Farrington Hwy. |
